Butterfly Milkweed Seeds - Butterfly Weed Seed

Butterfly Milkweed just so happens to be a beautiful flower that has long suffered from an unfortunate name. Often known in old-fashioned circles as "Butterfly Weed", it is also sometimes referred to by the more marketing-savvy as "Butterfly Flower". But regardless of the moniker, this beautiful native is cherished by serious wild gardeners.

For best success with this perennial seed, we recommend Fall Planting. For Spring Planting, seeds should be cold stratified prior to sowing.

  • • Perennial pollinator attractor native to North America
  • • Heirloom variety with bright orange summer blooms
  • • Thrives in bright, sunny growing areas

Customer photo review of Butterfly Milkweed Seeds

I grew these from seed in a red solo cup, and am extremely impressed that they bloomed in the same season. The monarchs visit on a daily basis now!

    Butterfly Milkweed Seeds

I have been buying from Eden Brothers for a few years now. This last order i received failed. Nothing even started to bloom. I was looking forward to this milk weed. Not sure what went wrong.

    Butterfly Milkweed Seeds

Store owner replied: Hello Kellijo. Thank you for being a returning Eden Brothers customer over the years, and we’re very sorry to hear about your experience with the Butterfly Milkweed seeds. We understand how disappointing it is when the plants fail to bloom after you’ve been looking forward to them. Butterfly Milkweed can sometimes spend its first season focusing more on establishing a deep root system rather than flowering heavily right away, especially if growing conditions have been stressful due to heat, moisture fluctuations, or transplant disturbance. In some cases, blooming may also be delayed until the second growing season while the plants become more established. We previously reached out regarding a resolution and would still be happy to help further with troubleshooting, growing guidance, or assistance with anything you purchased from us. Please feel free to reply to this email, or contact our customer service team directly at 855-440-2929, so we can continue helping you toward a successful planting experience. We truly want you to be successful with this and all of your seeds from us!

I planted these and was surprised to see a bloom, as most milkweeds don't bloom their first year. It is not butterfly milkweed. It is tropical milkweed. Disappointing, as this is disruptive to Monarch migrations and defeats the purpose of me planting milkweed for Monarch habitat.

I planted these seeds last fall and have had no germination.

The seeds grew well and fast but as the title says then ended up being tropical milkweed. I was giving them an EARLY head start and was suspicious of the leaf shape. So I let them flower and they came up red & yellow. 4 months of indoor growth for an annual when I was expecting a perennial.

The operator that assisted me (thank you so much for taking the time to hunt this information down) assured that this is not Asclepias curassavica, the tropical milkweed, which endangers Monarch Butterflies.

    Butterfly Milkweed Seeds

Bouhht these because I killed my butterfly weed trying to transplant it, which turns out is quite diffucult to do, so I bought these seeds. Planted 12 seeds so I could give some away and only had one seed not germinate.

    Butterfly Milkweed Seeds

The seed and feed and nurseries have all had a run on the milkweeds. I was good to find somewhere that carried the seeds. Mark M. St. Louis

    Butterfly Milkweed Seeds

Buy any seeds that attract bees and butterflies. The bee population is dying off. Help save them.with fruits berries etc.any pollinators.

    Butterfly Milkweed Seeds

Ordering was very easy; delivery was prompt. I have no complaints about the seeds. However, I did expect them to have the white "umbrella" that floats them in the air. I didn't specify that, so it's not Eden's fault. Everything they did was excellent. They certainly have a sophisticated website and ordering system. And emails.
