I planted these expecting them to not bloom this year but they did! I’m super bummed though that they are not double blooms :(

Hollyhock Seeds - Majorette Double Champagne

Store owner replied: Hello Hollie. Thank you for talking the time to share your experience, We are sorry to hear that your hollyhocks produced single blooms instead of the full, double flowers you were expecting. We're glad they bloomed during their first season, as many hollyhocks don't flower until their second year. Double-flowered hollyhocks grown from seed can occasionally produce some single or semi-double blooms due to natural genetic variation, and first-year plants may not always display their fullest blooms. However, they should generally develop flowers that resemble the expected variety. We understand your disappointment and appreciate you bringing your experience to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns., as we always want our customers to be happy with what they are growing from us!

I have been perplexed for a year and a half why these hollyhocks were gigantic compared to all the others I planted. These plants grew last year to the size of a large yellow squash plant. When they finally bloomed today I found out why. Spikes of single pink blooms 6-7 foot tall. Definitely not double majorette champagne. What a disappointment after so long.

The actual germination rate of the hollyhock seeds I purchased was only 34-40%. There were a lot of bad seeds.

I planted these in three different areas and did not have a single stem germinate. I did however manage to grow volunteer squash plants in all three of those areas (have never planted squash or anything like it), so I’m wondering if I received the wrong seeds?

I planted these seeds at the end of March in zone 7 and started getting blooms in August. They are more white than the light pink shown in pictures, but still beautiful.
