I got this mix because I wanted to make sure that the bees had flowers to get them through the summer. Always approach as an environmentalist. Everything I ordered came up except for Skyfall. I have many photos. The biggest surprise was a Dalia that I can’t name. It is my favorite Dahlia of the summer and was a complete surprise. It looks like a triple collarette, light pink and white - exquisite (see last five photos). And yes, the bees love them too! They grew easily - Bright Eyes was first, then Edge of Joy. Take-Off was last. They’re all large, healthy and full of flowers.

My favorites are the Bright Eyes & Totally Tangerine, which alternates between rosy & orangish, depending on how the light hits it. The pollinators, of course, love them all, both for nectar & pollen. Very happy with the variety of dahlias received with the order. The Totally Tangerine & Take Off are the most floriferous. Of the 10, I gave two tubers away and two plants didn't develop to flower stage due to months of nearly non-stop rain. One of which had what I describe as "potato type dahlia" foliage, which was different, fuller type foliage than the rest, and a very dark colored stalk. That one seems to be pulling through and developing new growth. We'll see what it will be when it flowers, other than beautiful! (photo in vase, 2xTakeOff, with Zinnia & Angelonia)

I think my time ordering from Eden Brothers has come up to an end. 10 out of 10 dahlia tubers very obviously infected with Dahlia Gall and are headed to the trash.

Customer photo review of Dahlia Tubers - Bee & Butterfly Mix

I placed two separate orders for the butterfly/bee mix that arrived separately. Similar to the other reviews, I did not receive the correct tubers. Two of the tubers seemed to be correct (bright eyes and edge of joy). Two were completely different (though appear to be the same variety other reviewers received). One was bright orange and one an orangey-pink, which was not what I expected. The 5th tuber for both orders either showed up broken or never bloomed. I was also a bit disappointed that they all came in the same bag, unlabeled. It made it difficult to know where to place them in the garden as I had no idea how tall each one would get. The bright eyes variety grew very tall, nearly 5 ft. So unfortunate as I loved the look of these all together.

Similar to the other reviews, I did not receive the correct varieties. I was so excited to grow these, and only ended up getting 2 out of the 5 featured in this mix (see picture for example).

you can try Dahlia's but I rec in a pot so that when we get our torrential rains, they don't rot as you wheel them under cover They are doing better since the drought hit. A few are surviving under the canopy of other trees that shelter them from the rain. the soil is mostly sandy so I am surprised by this. Oh well, not everything grows here

Store owner replied: Hello David C. Thank you for sharing your experience! We appreciate you sharing your experience growing dahlias in Zone 11, where both intense heat and periods of torrential rain can make them challenging. Your container idea is a helpful one, as dahlias need excellent drainage and their tubers can rot when soil remains saturated. In very hot climates, morning sun with protection from intense afternoon heat, consistent moisture during active growth, and mulch to moderate soil temperature can also help. Dahlias may slow down or even go dormant during extreme heat, then resume growth when conditions improve, so struggling plants aren't necessarily lost. We are glad some of yours are hanging in there and that we were able to provide a resolution. We hope the survivors reward your patience as conditions become more favorable!

I'm considering not buying any more tubers & planting zinnias as they are less costly & less work.

Store owner replied: Hello Paula L. Thank you for your review of Eden Brothers! We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, as feedback like this helps us improve our products and planting expectations. It looks like these were actually ordered later in the season this year and should just be about to start blooming for you. In your warmer zone, they can slow down in the intense heat and a bloom booster fertilizer (one with more phosphorus than nitrogen) can really help you have a beautiful finish to your season. From our follow-up with Customer Service, it looks like we were able to offer you a resolution, and we’re glad we could help. Thank you again for letting us know and we believe you can't go wrong with either zinnias or dahlias!

The few blooms that I’ve gotten look absolutely nothing like the flowers shown in the picture. These dahlias have been very slow growing and not produced many flowers at all as of yet. They are single colored only and very disappointing. One of the five did not ever germinate.

I am awaiting full growth. So far the growth is robust, except not all of the tubers produced plants.

Dahlia Tubers - Bee & Butterfly Mix

Have been anxiously awaiting my dahlias to bloom, only to be let down by getting blooms I did not order!!!! One tuber was thrown away due to gal disease, 2 plants are totally different than what I ordered above. Only got bright eyes, and what I believe will be edge of joy (but still opening.)

No - they sent the wrong colors - which I didn’t of course discover until after they started to bloom. They are highly unattractive - most likely leftovers that nobody wanted. To say that these are a disappointment would be an understatement. Put your trust in someone else.
