Only one of three bulbs sprouted and leaves we free not as advertised

Elephant Ear Bulbs - Royal Hawaiian® Waikiki

Store owner replied: Hello Sonja L. Thank you for sharing your review. We are sorry that only one of your three of these Elephant Ears sprouted and that the foliage on the plant that did grow wasn’t what you expected. Elephant Ear bulbs need warm soil, consistent moisture, and good drainage to establish, and cool or overly wet conditions can delay emergence or cause bulbs to deteriorate before producing growth. Waikiki is also grown for its distinctive variegated foliage, so we’d especially like to better understand what you meant when you said the leaves were not as advertised. We reached out by email to request additional information and offer assistance but haven’t heard back yet. If you’re able to send us a photo of the foliage, along with any details about the bulbs that didn't emerge, simply reply to our original email, and we’ll be happy to take a closer look. We stand behind our products and our Grow Guarantee and would appreciate the opportunity to help provide a resolution!

This was my first experience gRowing Elephant Ears but am an experienced gardener. The bulb was healthy when it arrived and planted as instructed in the video. It took a long time to sprout so I contacted customer care. They asked for patience. Several weeks later it finally sprouted and foliagebegan to unfurl..it was almost black and never turned the beautiful colors in the photo.. once again contacted Customer care who, once again, asked to be patient provide more sunlight. ( it gets 6 hours afternoon sun) This is a prominent planter at our entry. Still dark so I gave up. Pulled the growth and replanted the planter.

Store owner replied: Hello Karen R. Thank you for your review for us. We are sorry to hear that this variety of Elephant Ear did not develop the vibrant variegation you were expecting! Newly emerged leaves can appear much darker at first, and factors such as plant maturity, sunlight, temperature, and growing conditions can all influence how quickly the pink, cream, and white coloration develops. We understand that you did begin to notice some pink, but that it never reached the level you had hoped before the plant was removed. We previously reached out and offered a resolution but have not yet heard back. If you still need assistance, please reply directly to the email we sent, and we'd be happy to continue helping you. At Eden Brothers, we stand behind our products and want every customer to enjoy a beautiful, successful garden!
