I had never even seen lupine in person before buying one of Eden Brothers’ flower collections, so I really didn’t know what to expect. I planted several of each variety, and watching the collection unfold through the season has been amazing. One of my favorite surprises was a Russell lupine blooming in September from a new start. I cut the pale yellow bloom and arranged it with zinnias, cosmos, flowering oregano, strawberry leaves and sweet potato vine from the garden. The colors reminded me so much of early September light that I named the arrangement “September Morning.” This collection introduced me to flowers I might never have chosen individually and gave me combinations I wouldn’t have thought of myself. It has been such a pleasure seeing what comes into bloom next. I would absolutely grow a collection like this again.
