Itoh peonies (also known as intersectional peonies) have a mix of traits of two Peony varieties: the hardiness of traditional garden peonies, and the upright growing style and prolific blooms of tree peonies. Complementing their nicely tailored shape, Itohs produce enormous flowers from many buds, often 50 blooms per plant in a single season. Bartzella Peony brings charming yellow blooms with streaked crimson red centers. These blooms have a sweet fragrance and can measure up to 8 inches across! Strong stems hold the flowers upright, even after a heavy rain. Glossy, green foliage starts out copper-burgundy in the spring and provides interest throughout the season, once established.
• Note: Fall-Planted Peonies Ship to All Zones Beginning in October
• Late Spring to Early Summer Blooming, Easy to Grow
• Perennial; Fragrant, Stunning Color and Lots of Blooms

Sprouted fine, but almost immediately started showing signs of disease. The foliage never looked healthy. Pretty sure it has botrytis. This will be the third peony root I’ve bought from EB with botrytis unfortunately. Won’t be buying peonies here again.

Hello Quincey. Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that your Bartzella Itoh Peony did not perform as expected, and we do understand the disappointment of looking froward to having these in your garden. Botrytis is a common fungal disease of peonies and can develop under cool, wet conditions or persist in garden debris from previous seasons, making it difficult to determine the exact cause without further evaluation. We are glad we had the opportunity to provide a resolution, and we've shared your experience with both our grower and our on-staff horticulturist for further review. Feedback like yours helps us investigate potential quality concerns and continue improving the products we offer. At Eden Brothers, we stand behind our products and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience!
I am pleased with the shipping speed as it only travels from north Carolina to Virginia. The health of the peony rhizomes was great and packaged well with some dry dirt in each bag. I have a few orders of five each and most 9/10 were three eyes or more. One bag had two small Roots with one eye each but I can't complain. I hope to see flowers in year three. But sooner is possible. My photos are of cora Louise and Scarlett heaven
Order EB642463, planted the 5 pack of these Itoh Peony Roots - in Oct. the same time as 5 red and 5 pink varieties….those ten are up…nothing yet seen from these Itoh peonies!..pretty disappointed especially concerning the cost and that zero are up. Will be happy to update this if something changes.

Hello Jill. Thank you for your review of Eden Brothers! We appreciate you taking the time to reach out about your experience. It’s great to hear that you will wait a little longer, as the Itoh Peony Roots do take longer to sprout. This will let us see how yours do. Certainly keep us updated! If this variety does not produce well for you, reach back out to us and we’ll be happy to work on a means of resolution with you. Thanks for reaching out!
Not one of the 5 has shown any signs of life.
They looked rough on arrival but I planted and crossed my fingers.
Nothing.
Actually dug one up and it was definitely dead.
Disappointed for sure.

I purchased 3 roots last fall. When they arrived, I opened the box to discover 1 root was mushey and mildewed., dead. Eden brothers put a credit on my account for the cash value of 1 root. I planted the other 2 roots. This spring, nothing. No signs of life. Bummer.

Peonies take a long time to bloom but I bought these and planted them in the Fall and they all came up in the Spring. Can’t wait for them to mature and bloom.
I planted this yellow peony (Itoh Bartzella) along with another purchased in red (Lady in Red); however, this more expensive variety just shriveled up and died almost immediately. The red looks extremely healthy. Very disappointed as the Itoh variety never looked healthy from the beginning.
