Salvia (Sage) Roots - May Night FAQs

What size bulbs will I receive with May Night Salvia?

May Night Salvia is graded No. 1.

What is May Night Salvia also known as?

May Night Salvia is also known as Wood Sage.

Is May Night Salvia resistant to animals or disease?

May Night Salvia is deer resistant and rabbit resistant, meaning deer and rabbits generally avoid it due to its taste, texture, or aroma. It also shows resistance to Powdery Mildew, meaning it's less susceptible to these under normal growing conditions — though resistant isn't a guarantee against them in every case.

    Customer Reviews

    Overall rating: 1.0 / 5 from 9 reviews.

I ordered this in the spring and planted four of them. One came up. I requested a refund and they refunded the price paid, but wouldn't honor the special I received so it cost more to replace them. I ordered a second batch, received only three of the four I'd ordered, requested another refund. NONE of these came up. Their customer service takes forever to respond, although they do issue refunds.... I wouldn't order any of these if I'd looked at the reviews beforehand.

Store owner replied: Hello Heather T. Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that your roots did not perform as expected. We understand how disappointing it is to plant them twice and still not see the results you were hoping for. In Zone 5, May Night Salvia roots are typically best planted in mid to late spring, once the soil has warmed and the danger of hard frost has passed. Roots planted very early in the season may remain dormant in cold soil, while those planted later should still establish well with consistent moisture and well-drained soil. It's also not uncommon for newly planted bare roots to spend several weeks developing their root systems before producing visible top growth. We are glad we had the opportunity to work with you and provide a resolution that you were happy with. At Eden Brothers, we stand behind our products and appreciate your feedback. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to make things right, and we wish you success with your future gardening endeavors!

I've never seen anything die back faster after i planted this down. Don't buy.

Salvia (Sage) Roots - May Night

Store owner replied: Hello Bryce. Thank you for writing in about this! We are sorry to hear about your experience with the salvia roots. These are typically quite hardy, so a rapid decline after planting is often related to environmental stress. The most common is excess moisture or poor drainage, as salvias prefer well-drained soil. In some cases, transplant shock combined with heat can also cause plants to struggle early on before they establish. We have tried reaching out but haven’t heard back, and we’d really like the opportunity to help. Please reply to our emails or contact our customer support team at 855-440-2929 so we can assist you further and work toward a resolution. We’re committed to addressing this and helping ensure a better experience moving forward!

Planted and tended. All I have to show for it is a bare spot in my border. Do not recommend.

I bought salvia, echinacea, and hosta roots which all arrived at the same time and were planted promptly. The hosta did amazing but both the echinacea and salvia aren’t growing. Wouldn’t recommend these but would the hosta roots!

I am located in zone 7b and I ordered the Salvia and planted , watered and placed in full sun but it never came out of ground. All the other seeds and bulbs that I ordered are doing excellent. The Salvia seem to be defective per the other reviews, same issue. May I have a refund or another replacement plant as the Salvia didn’t work out? Thank You. Eden Brothers is wonderful company.
